As this yearís Chairman of Sussex County Past Presidents it gives me great pleasure in being the first to prepare and contribute to our new page on the County website.

Our membership is logically made up of those men who have been County Presidents both indoors and outdoors.  However, as an association we regularly press gang the unsuspecting to play for us in the 17 or so matches we arrange indoors and outdoors. Without the kind and continued support of those pressed men, and even ladies at times, opportunities for us as a group to get together would be limited to our annual lunch and general meeting.  Thanks to all.

As a county and as a group we are indeed fortunate to have a loyal band of supporters who follow us to our matches.  Iím not too sure how much of the games they watch but itís good having them with us.

Many of you will no doubt be aware that a new competition has been added to the national championships. The Senior Fours will be run by our own county and the winners go on to Leamington in August.  The Past Presidents are providing the county winners and runners up trophies.  My thanks go to those Past Presidents who contributed financially to the purchase of the winnersí cup.  The Past Presidents Association will fund the runners up trophy from their fund.

For some years our small association has been well run by Allan Hilton who has acted as Secretary, Treasurer, Match Secretary, match official and any other job that needs doing.  Allanís endeavours are greatly appreciated and this year we are offering him a bit more practical support.

We look forward to meeting many of you throughout both seasons.  Until then have a great outdoor season.

Don Kent

Chairman 2017
